Ti-Lock-NS
movement control joints are employed
in controlled bays to provide local
stress relief in accommodating the
forces of drying shrinkage, thermal
effects, imposed and transient loading
(traffic), as well as deflection arising
from movements in the slab.
This range of joints is keyed into
the bed or screed by wire ties which
are placed into anchor points pressed
in the metal side plates. These anchor
points are spaced 200 mm apart and
wire ties are inserted to further
guarantee firm linkage to the screed
or bed.
When installing NS joints, and where
the joint is used with marble or terrazzo
which is polished after laying, it
should be installed 1 or 2mm above
the level of the unpolished paving.
When grinding is carried out, the
joint simply polishes down flush with
the surface of the polished tiles.
Two types of Ti-Lock-NS joints are
manufactured:- TIL-NS joints which
are designed for normal service and
which have 1mm thick metal sideplates
and THD-NS joints which are used in
very heavy duty applications where
exceptional levels of impact and abrasion
are anticipated. THD- NS joints have
3mm thick metal sideplates.

Both
types of joint are supplied in 2
metre lengths with Brass, Aluminium
or Stainless Steel sideplates bonded
to a Neoprene or *Vamac
core. Standard core colours are
Black, Grey or Stone (beige). Special
colours
and sizes can be manufactured to
order.
*Vamac joints have
been specifically designed for projects
where a high degree of fire resistance
and low toxic smoke emission is
required. Such installations include
underground rail terminals, basement
levels of air terminals, hospitals
and other areas where personnel
(or passengers) work (or transit)
below ground level.

synthetic rubber extrusions have
