The Great Hall and Library

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Great Hall and Library project includes restoration and extension of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, and is the most significant development to the historic estate in 150 years for the grade 2 listed building. The work comprises heritage-led conservation and restoration with bold contemporary additions to the oldest working Library in London

DESIGN DELIVERED

Vexcolt’s 130 Series with a grey gasket was used to provide an elegant finish with a minimal sightline, worthy of the surrounding buildings. Where settlement would reach 10mm, the 300 series was installed to meet any slip resistant safety measures.

SPECIFIC CHALLENGES

The challenges of this project were to deliver a proposal that kept a minimalistic finish that would fit in with the contemporary architecture of the famous library. Where a new wing was being constructed a 10mm settlement movement would need to be accommodated between old and new structures whilst meeting slip resistant regulations.
