Slow Traffic Passage – Amsterdam Central Station

Slow Traffic Passage – Amsterdam Central Station

15,000 cyclists and pedestrians make daily use of the slow traffic passage (langzaamverkeerspassage) under the Central Station in Amsterdam. The New Tunnel is the ideal connection between the city centre and the IJ. The specialists of Vexcolt/Atec were involved in the design of the dilatation profiles in the tunnel.

The tunnel is 3 meters high, 110 meters long, and 10 meters wide. The walls of the tunnel are lined with 46,000 tiles depicting a Dutch scene of merchant and fishing vessels of Cornelis Bale (1652-1733).
